San Diablo is a fictional place in my mind based very loosely on San Diego, California, a coastal city. And I'm probably not going to try to draw a MAP of it. My concept for ROW Park is from walking past an ugly eyesore regularly in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a city that is more than a mile high.
I don't know how to mentally reconcile the geographic bits and pieces in my mind that are ending up in this comic and may not bother:
Springfield is the primary fictional setting of the American animated sitcom The Simpsons... The city's geography, surroundings, and layout are flexible, often changing to accommodate the plot of any given episode.
I used to have dreams of Schweinfurt, Georgia. I grew up in Georgia eating my German mother's authentic German cooking and I lived in Schweinfurt, Germany in my twenties. Both Georgia and Germany have a landscape full of evergreens blotting out the sky. So I have prior experience mentally mashing up different places. Hopefully, that serves me well here.
San Diablo is part of a fictional world with more advanced space development stuff than is currently real for planet Earth. That's why ROW Park is being introduced: It's part of the landscape of my mind where November lives in a world with space colonization within our solar system, but not intergalactic travel.
